Waterford United’s new manager was in town to officially sign his contract with the club. The Limerick born boss attended the signing along with assistant Trevor Lovell as well as Head of Youth Development Derek Browne. Following a very successful meeting with the management committe, there was a photocall with Mike putting pen to paper on his new deal.”This was a very positive meeting,” said Kerley. “We put forward our requirements and thoughts for the new season and the committee reacted very favourably to these plans. We are excited about the ideas that the committee have to bring the club forward and we will be doing everything we can to get things right on the field. At the moment we are talking to the players and we will meet them again this week to give each player his personalised training programme for the next couple of weeks. Waterford United players John Lester and Paul Crowley will miss the opening game of the 2006 season following recent meetings of the Eircom League disciplinary committee. Lester has been suspended for one game having reached four penalty points while Paul Crowley has also been hit with a one match suspension having hit the eight penalty point mark. It seems though that that Crowley will serve his suspension with Dublin City as the newly promoted club has announced him as one of thier new signings.
