IBSC Meeting on Monday 20 February

The Independent Blues Supporters Club will hold their monthly meeting on Monday evening next February 20th at 7.30pm in Norris’ Bar, Barrack Street, Waterford. Among the items to be discussed is a trip to Sligo for the game on April 15 2006. All members are asked to attend and new members are welcome.
Waterford United Official Supporters Club Race Night

Waterford United Official Supporters Club will hold a race night on Saturday night next February 26th at Brady’s Bar in St John’s Park, Waterford. All are welcome and the action is likely to get underway at 9pm.
Grant stars as Irish U21′s win Madeira Tournament

It was a tale of two Stephens as Ireland won their second Madeira Cup title by beating Portugal 2-1 in Estadio Do Machico this afternoon.
Grant Capped for Ireland Under 21′s

Waterford United midfielder Stephen Grant earned his first cap for Ireland’s Under 21′s as they beat Finland by two goals to one in the Madeira Tournament.
Ireland draw 1-1 in opening match of Madeira Tournament

Ireland drew one all with hosts Madeira in the opening game of the Madeira Tournament in Funchal today. The game was an even affair with chacnes falling to both sides. Darren Quigley denied Madeira with two good saves but he was finally beaten on 59 minutes when Patricio scored with an ecevellent 30 yard effort.Ireland managed to equalise 12 minutes from time when Jonathan Hayes, a half time replacement for Roy O Donovan, found the net. The Irish were reduced to ten men with four minutes remaining when Michael Timlin was dismissed for a second yellow card. Madeira continued to press forward looking for the winner but the Irish defense held firm for a share of the spoils.
Deans starts in U21 International against Madeira

Waterford United central defender Chris Deans has been selected by Don Givens in the starting eleven for this afternoon’s opening game of the four nation tournament against hosts Madeira.Deans has been joined on the island by his Blues’ teammate Stephen Grant who has joined the squad today after Stephen Ireland withdrew through injury. Grant has been named in the substitutes.

American On Trial Released

Waterford United manager Mike Kerley has decided against continuing the trial of American Ryan Purtell. The Arizona born player has been at the club for the past number of weeks but he has now been released by the manager.
Eircom League Fixtures Announced

The fixtures for the coming season’s eircom League Premier Division have been issued subject to the appeals process of the Licensing Committee involving Longford Town.Waterford United will open their campaign away to St Patrick’s Athletic on Friday March 10th and follow up with two home matches against Bray Wanderers on March 17th (Subject to change) and UCD on March 24th.The full fixture list will be posted on the club website tomorrow.
Stephen Grant Called Up to Under 21′s

Waterford United midfielder Stephen Grant has been a late inclusion to Don Givens’ Republic of Ireland squad for this week’s Madeira Tournament. Grant replaces Stephen Ireland who has had to withdraw due to a groin injury he sustained over the weekend. The Waterford United player hopes to join up with the squad in time for the first game of the Tournament. The Republic of Ireland take on hosts Madeira tomorrow 14th February, followed by Finland on 15th and their last game will be against Portugal on Friday 17th February. Don Givens’ side last won this tournament in 2004.
