At a special EGM of the FAI on Saturday, it was agreed that the eircom league would be merged with the FAI.This means that that the FAI will now formally take over the running of the league from next season and the process of selecting the clubs to play in the new league will begin later this month.Clubs will be invited to make submissions the body charged with deterining the make up of next year’s leagues.It is also understood that the FAI is to seek applications from interested clubs for the final place in the 22 team structure, left vacant by the demise of Dublin City.
