Waterford United complete their eircom league programme on Friday when they make the journey North to Drogheda for a match that the Drogs need to win to have any hope of securing third spot in the league. For Gareth Cronin, the focus is on next week’s play-offs but he will relish the chance of finishing the league in style.”The players are really up for this game,” he told waterford-united.ie. “After the disappointment of Monday night, they are anxious to end the season on a high note and will be going all out for a win.”Cronin can plan for the game with a full squad as both Alan Reynolds and Ger McCarthy return from suspension though the manager could have a selection headache after Monday’s performance against the Candystripes. The Drogs face Waterford with doubts over Dan Connor and Brian Shelley. Connor twisted his knee in training this morning and a scan revealed that thankfully there was no serious damage, only mild inflammation. A decision on his fitness will not be taken until just before the match. Brian Shelley has a hip strain and must also be rated as extremely doubtful.Form GuideDrogheda:WDWDWWWaterford: LLDLLLLast GameWaterford United 0 Derry City 1Sligo Rovers 2 Drogheda United 3Previous Meetings18/08/2006 Waterford United 2-3 Drogheda United 19/05/2006 Drogheda United 4-0 Waterford United 18/11/2005 Waterford United 1-0 Drogheda United 19/08/2005 Drogheda United 1-0 Waterford United 27/05/2005 Waterford United 0-3 Drogheda United BettingDrogheda: 2/7Waterford: 8/1Draw:7/2RefereeD Hancock (Dublin)
