Waterford United’s Lucozade Sport Munster Senior Cup defence will commence on Saturday February 16th when the Blues face Cobh Ramblers at the RSC.The game has been confirmed by the Munster FA and will have a 2pm kick-off.The Blues are the current champions and it will be the second time they will face Ramblers in a fortnight.They kick off their pre-season campaign this Saturday with a match against Cobh at the RSC. The kick off in that one is also at 2pm.

Waterford United will face an away trip on the opening day of the season but the journey will be a short one as they have been drawn to play Wexford Youths in Series 1 of the eircom League of Ireland First Division.Gareth Cronin’s squad will kick off their league campaign at Ferrycarrig Park on Friday March 7th and their first home game of the season will see Longford Town as the visitors to the newly renovated RSC.

Open Day at RSC Postponed

Waterford United’s proposed Open Day at the RSC that had been scheduled for this coming Saturday January 26th has been postponed.The pitch at the RSC is waterlogged and training has been cancelled.It is hoped to reorganise the event in the next few weeks.
The fixture list for the 2008 eircom League of Ireland season will be released on Friday, January 25th.The fixtures will be placed on the league
Waterford United, in association with Waterford Deaf Association, held a very successful fundraiser at the Woodlands Hotel. A large audience was treated to a superb night’s entertainment and much needed funds were raised for the club.
Waterford United manager Gareth Cronin has confirmed that Kenny Browne has agreed to stay at Waterford United for the coming season.The defender had decided to seek a full time contract in Irish football but following discussions with the Blues boss, he has decided to return the United for the coming season.
Waterford United will face newly promoted Cobh Ramblers in the quarter final of the Lucozade Munster Senior Cup. In the draw made by the Munster FA, the holders were handed a home draw for the tie which must be played by February 17th next.

Blues Boss Gareth Cronin is lining up some attractive pre season games as he gets his squad ready for the new season.The team returns to pre season training on January 18th and they will have games against Cobh Ramblers, Bray Wanderers, Shamrock Rovers and Cork City as they build up to the new season.The Blues travel to the Carlisle Grounds on Tuesday February 19th to face Bray Wanderers. The following Saturday, supporters will get their first opportunity to see the new stand at the RSC when Shamrock Rovers come to town while the following week, Cobh Ramblers will be the visitors to the RSC for another game on February 1st while arrangements are at an advanced stage for Cork City to play at the RSC on Mar 1.Gareth Cronin’s squad will hold and Open Day on January 26 at the RSC with a training game and an opportunity for fans to meet the players and management.Gareth Cronin is hoping to finalise a couple of more games before the season kicks off in March.
