Blues gear up for Harps’ second coming
Waterford United are quickly back in action host Finn Harps in a re-fixed match at the RSC on Tuesday night (KO 7.45pm).
The game originally fell foul of the sudden torrential downpours that fell on the city on the afternoon of July 11th, a cancellation that was unavoidable, but unfortunately meant the recall of a Harps squad that had all but reached their destination. The Donegal men make the long trip once more on Tuesday, to a ground where they have had some success in recent times. Heading northwards with a point on each of their last three trips, they also secured promotion via the play-offs on their most recent visit to the RSC, a 3-3 draw in November of 2007 following a 3-0 win at Finn Park three days earlier.
Earlier this season, United recorded an impressive 3-1 win at Ballybofey, always a tough place to go looking for a result, but Finn Harps have improved hugely since then, notching notable victories over Sporting Fingal and Ipswich Town in a recent four game unbeaten run. That run ended with defeat to Wexford Youths at the weekend, and the Blues will be hoping that they can complete a South East double over the Ulstermen. Certainly their tails will be up after a deserved, if hard-fought, defeat of Limerick at the RSC on Saturday, a vital three points to get their title challenge back on track. To that end, Stephen Henderson will have no injury concerns amongst the squad, and there are no suspensions in operation.
