Waterford United 2 Passage United 0Waterford United claimed their first Munster Senior Cup in 20 years when they defeated Passage United in the final at Turners Cross this evening. The Blues scored in each half to lift the cup in a game where the Munster Senior League outfit more than acquitted themselves.Gareth Cronin rested some key players with Packie Holden starting between the posts while Stephen Cooling enjoyed his first full game since returning from injury while Conor McDonald started up front with Robert Brosnan.United dominated from the start as they pressurised the Cork side from the whistle but Passage absorbed the pressure and kept the Blues at bay. However a searching run from Alan Mulcahy saw him upended in the penalty area and there was never a doubt about the decision. Mulcahy picked himself up to fire the ball to the net.An injury to McDonald in the second half saw Vinny Sullivan introduced and the Dungarvan player continued his recent run of good form to slot home United’s second late in the game.
