Waterford United exonerated by DCU
Waterford United has been completely exonerated by the Disciplinary Commission Unit of the FAI following the evnets at the FAI Ford Cup Semi Final on October 23rd.
Having been charged by the DCU, the club prepared a very detailed response and submitted it to the DCU in advance of its meeting last Wednesday 11 November.
The club was also represented at the meeting to present its case and following its deliberations, the DCU found that Waterford United had no case to answer.
Waterford United Chairman John O’Sullivan has welcomed the decision:
“Everybody at the club is very happy that the fans and the club have been vindicated. Our fans have never caused any trouble at any game in this country and we felt we had to do everything in our power to preserve the good name of the club and its supporters. We prepared a very detailed response and our Event Controller Mark Dunne attended the DCU hearing to further reinforce our case. We always knew that we had done nothing wrong and I am glad that the DCU agreed with us!”
It is understood that a further investigation has been ordered by the DCU into the organisation of the game.
